In all areas of life important decisions are based
on the results of chemical quantitative analysis. One of the fundamental principles of valid, cost effective analytical measurement is comparability of analytical results.
Participation in proficiency testing schemes (PT) enables laboratories to assess and demonstrate comparability and reliability of their measurement data by comparison with results from other laboratories. Importance of PT is recognized in ISO 17025 where participation in those studies is emphasized as an important component of any system of laboratory quality assurance.
Our PT-Schemes are designed to show how the results from an individual laboratory compares with those from other participants. The test scheme is based on internationally recognised standards such as ISO 17043 but our organization is not accredited.
We will publish the PT program for next year on our website in November. Laboratories can register there to participate in individual PTs.
After preparation and qualification of samples by PT provider each participating laboratory receives a set of samples. About four weeks after receipt and chemical analysis of samples, participants have to submit analytical results which then are subjected to statistical evaluation according to ISO 13528.
Participants will be informed of their results by the PT provider at the end of the evaluation. Each participant is confidentially advised of its own performance and of the anonymous group results, together with statistical evaluations, and where possible, of the individual methods.
The current topics and dates of PT-Schemes are represented on the following pages.
